SHARMINI THARMARATNAM

Sharmini Tharmaratnam is a sri-lankan dutch dancer who studied in New Delhi, India, Kathak dance of "Jaipur gharana" under the guidance of Pandit Rajendra Gangani. Since 15 years she is putting the fusion of Spain-India on stage, composes music and choreographes which are valuable in both worlds; the Orient and the Occident, the traditional and the modern. Practise came into theory in the form of the book “El Flamenco made in India”.

After studying Bharata Natyam, contemporary dance and jazz, it is flamenco and Kathak which have marked her most. Completed her studies at the Faculty of Arts, she will not forget the visual aspect of stage presentation and concepts.
